Your garden doesn't only consist out of plants and flowers. Most of the time, people want their gardens to also be aesthetically pleasing. Different approaches can be used to achieve this, one of which being decorative garden fences. Fences come in a variety of types including wood, metal, and plastic. Each of these options have different attributes setting them apart from each other. There likely will be something suitable for your demands with these three types of materials.

Wooden fences are an option for you who are looking for a country look. A common type of wooden fence is the split rail type that will give your garden a rustic look. Wood can be an excellent option for people looking for a fence which is easy to install. They can be purchased pre-fabricated at most lumberyards and home stores. These ready to install fences can usually be assembled in a single day.

Plastic fencing is a great solution when you are looking for low maintenance and durable garden fences. They don't need to be treated or painted to retain their quality and are weather proof. However, they can be quite decorative and will not look out of place if chosen carefully and installed in a decorative and old country style like garden. Even if you want to have the look of wood, you can still decide to go for composite plastic material.

Fences made out of metal are very durable and quite easy to maintain. A good coat of paint will greatly increase it's lifetime. These fences are available in various shapes and sizes for that truly decorative look. However, they can prove to be very expensive and be very hard to install. If you need to re-shape your fence, it's not as easy as just cutting a piece off.

If you want to add a certain mood to your garden, as well as protect your garden from intruders, a fence is the solution. Choose which ever type of material suits your needs according to your expectations, possibilities regarding your garden and you maybe even your DIY skills.
