Cucumbers that Produce All Season

Anyone can grow healthy cucumbers as long as they have a garden spot that receives full sun and temperatures around seventy degrees Fahrenheit. Cucumbers are one of those plants that cannot tolerate even small amounts of frost. Cucumbers grow on long vines so they need space in your garden to spread out or they need a trellis of some sort to save room. You can find a dwarf variety that you can grow in a container.

When should cucumbers be planted?

Cucumbers shouldn't be planted too early because they are very sensitive to the cold. Late spring or early summer is generally the best time.

What u=is the best type of soil for these?

The soil should have good drainage and the pH should be 6.5. You can make sure you have strong plants by using organic compost. This can guarantee the pH factor on the soil to be correct, as well as the drainage.

There are a couple other products that you can add to your growing soil to make the plants produce even more. You can get organic fertilizer and root builder. The products will help your plants from pests and disease. Mycorrhizal helps your plant absorb nutrients from the soil. The root developer can be used when the plants begin to grow but the fertilizer needs to wait for the first signs of flowers. To get more cucumbers, you should use the least amount of fertilizer that's recommended by the manufacturer. You want more vegetable and not more leaves.

What you can do while the plants are growing:

Your cucumbers will be drying out fast because they will be in direct sunlight. Keeping mulch in the soil will help it retain moisture. Keeping away the weeds will also help in getting more vegetables. Bark and wood chips make good mulch for the plants and if you keep about four inches around your plants they will be able to retain the moisture they need to grow.

Composting will keep your plant producing strong, healthy cucumbers. Compost piles are simple to keep. You can buy a compost unit, or you can make a compost pile yourself. Using compost will not only make your plants grow better, but it will be the healthiest food choices available.
